The meter. Astrotalk's own pricing policy states that a typical transaction in its apps runs ₹500 to ₹1,500 per session. The cost of an answer depends on which astrologer you picked and how long the conversation ran, so you learn the price afterwards. For some people that is fine; the first chat is free and the cheaper astrologers are cheap. For others, thinking while a meter runs changes the questions they ask.
The choosing. Astrotalk states 48,000+ verified astrologers on its chat, call and kundli matching pages and 50,000+ on its homepage, while its app store listings say 1,600+ (Google Play) and 1,500+ (App Store). Filtering by language, rating, specialty and rate is real work, and the astrologer you liked last time may not be online this time.
The conversation itself. Some people want to be heard by a person. Others want the chart read and the answer written down, and would skip the chat if they could. Astrotalk is built for the first group.
Each alternative below answers one of these differently.
AstroSage says it has run since 2004, with a mobile Kundli app dating to 2001, and is best known for its free Kundli software. AstroSage AI is the AI layer inside that ecosystem: AI-labelled astrologer personas sit in the same directory as human astrologers, billed per minute, and an AI Call feature lets you talk to an AI astrologer by phone in a regional language.

AstroSage states that its AI has answered over 10 crore questions and that it launched an AI astrologer in 2018. Those are AstroSage's figures.
Choose AstroSage AI if you want the Astrotalk experience with an AI on the other end, in your language, inside a platform you may already use for free Kundli.
InstaAstro is the closest like-for-like replacement. It connects you with human astrologers for chat and call, billed per minute at rates each astrologer sets (about ₹54 to ₹369 per minute on its listing pages in October 2026), with a first call or chat at ₹1 for new users, free Kundli and matching tools, and apps on both stores. InstaAstro states 2,000+ verified astrologers on its homepage. It also shows a "Money Back Guarantee" badge there; its terms say refunds are considered at InstaAstro's discretion and are not given for dissatisfaction with the accuracy of a prediction.
What it changes: a shorter list to choose from, and a different set of astrologers. What it keeps: everything structural. If your reason for leaving Astrotalk is the meter or the conversation model, InstaAstro does not address it.
Choose InstaAstro if you want a human astrologer by chat in Hindi, Tamil or Punjabi and found Astrotalk's directory too large.
ViaAstro is the alternative for people who want the chart work, not the consultation. You enter your birth date, time and place once. Swiss Ephemeris computes your planetary positions across 16 divisional charts. You ask a question, pick a depth, and an AI layer writes a reading against those computed positions, your current dasha and the transits in play. The reading is a document you keep; the next question starts from the same chart.

One more difference worth naming. ViaAstro publishes how it works: the engine, which chart answers which question, and in kundli matching, every cancellation rule it applies and whether it fired. Its matching calculator also requires a birth time, because the ascendant changes roughly every two hours and a rough time can flip a dosha. Astrotalk's matching form treats birth time as optional and defaults to midnight.
